An early hand carved Robert Mouseman Thompson dark oak ashtray with signature mouse. The mouse has been particularly well carved with a higher back end, typical of the 1930s and 1940s. Most of the Mouseman ashtrays have the mouse carved on the left-hand side, this ashtray has it carved on the right-hand side, making it a bit more unusual. It is in excellent condition with no damage, just a bit of wear commensurate with age. It has wonderful patina that you just can't get with the later ashtrays. It is a really lovely dark oak colour, a great example of an early Mouseman piece.
