A superb pair of Bob 'Wrenman' Hunter hand carved napkin rings. Both have been expertly carved and bear the signature wren perched on top. The attention to detail is absolutely exceptional. Each wren has been carved onto a log which has tree bark detail and even two little stumps to the base to keep the napkin rings balanced. The condition of both is excellent with no damage at all, not even to the beak or tails, which is great to see as the beaks quite often get knocked off and the tails can also suffer damage as the birds are so delicately carved. They stand 7 cm high, the width is 5cm. A wonderful pair of hand carved napkin rings. 
 
Bob Hunter was one of Robert 'Mouseman' Thompson's craftsmen. He set up his own workshop and initially adopted the tortoise as his signature but later changed it to the wren after seeing a pair of wrens building a nest in his workshop. His pieces are always very well carved, so are highly sought after, especially his earlier pieces with his signature tortoise, they are incredibly rare and hardly ever come to the market.
