An early hand carved Robert 'Mouseman' Thompson dark oak ashtray with signature mouse. The mouse has been superbly carved with a higher back end, thinner neck, and more prominent ears, typical of the 1930s and 1940s. The inner bowl has also been hand-carved, which is really nice to see as the bowls on the later ashtrays were machine cut. It is in very good condition with just one small nick to the base, not really noticeable, but should be pointed out. There is no damage to the mouse, it is in perfect condition. The ashtray has great patination and is a really wonderful dark oak colour, a great example of an early Mouseman piece.
