Welcome to the Yorkshire Mouse online shop

A wonderful Colin 'Beaverman' Almack large fruit bowl. It has been beautifully made with the signature beaver carved in high relief on the side of the bowl. The beaver has been particularly well executed with a little raised head and excellent detail to the tail. The colour of the bowl is gorgeous and the adzing is superb, one of the nicest Beaverman bowls I've seen.

The diameter measures 28 cm, so it's a fair bit larger than the other bowls that have come to the market, which tend to be around 24 cm. It would look fantastic filled with fresh fruit.

The condition is excellent. It has one fine hairline crack, which can be seen in the pictures, and one small chip to the base, next to one of the lathe marks, not seen when displayed - priced accordingly. Apart from that and very minor surface wear, it's in great condition. The beaver signature has no chips or cracks - it's perfect. A really substantial, large, heavy bowl.

Colin 'Beaverman' Almack was one of Robert 'Mouseman' Thompson's craftsmen. He worked for Thompson during the 1940s and 1950s. He set up his own workshop in 1960 and adopted the beaver as his signature.
