A vintage hand carved oak spinning chair by Don 'Foxman' Craven. It has been beautifully made with adzing to the back splat and seat. Craven has carved his fox signature to one front chair leg. The colour of the oak is wonderful, and it has really good patina. The condition is very good with just slight wear commensurate with age and use. It's a solid piece and really quite comfortable. Still very useable today as an occasional / hall / desk chair. It measures 92 cm high, the width of the seat measures 36 cm, the height of the seat is 45 cm. It's a really nice, well carved original 'Foxman' piece with a good fox signature. 
 
Don Craven was one of Robert 'Mouseman' Thompson's craftsmen. He set up his own workshop in the 1960s and adopted the fox as his signature. He was the original Foxman and always carved a full seated fox with bushy tail. After Craven retired, Malcom Pipes adopted the fox signature, using just a fox mask / head.
