An early Colin 'Beaverman' Almack nut bowl. It dates to the 1960s, so was made just after Colin Almack left Mouseman and set up his own workshop, adopting the beaver as his signature. It is in excellent condition with no damage. The colour is wonderful, it has also been beautifully carved from a lovely piece of oak with lots of character, and the patina is superb. The signature beaver is perfect with no chips or cracks. The diameter measures 14.5 cm. I've only ever seen one other of these octagonal Beaverman bowls come to the market, they are quite rare and are always sought after.
Colin 'Beaverman' Almack was one of Robert 'Mouseman' Thompson's craftsmen. He worked for Thompson during the 1940s and 1950s. He set up his own workshop in 1960 and adopted the beaver as his signature.
