An early Robert 'Mouseman' Thompson fruit bowl, hand carved from oak with the signature mouse on the side. These early bowls were only made up until the late 1950s, early 1960s, so they are quite rare, after this period the mice were carved in the centre of the bowl. This bowl dates to the 1940s / 1950s. The diameter is 23 cm, so a fair bit smaller than the later bowls, which are 30.5 cm. It is well carved with a good mouse. It has some old splits in the wood and a bit of fruit acid staining from use (priced accordingly), otherwise no issues. The mouse is in perfect condition with no damage. It has excellent patination and is a really lovely dark oak colour. A beautiful Mouseman piece, these early bowls are always highly sought after.
