A superb hand carved Robert 'Mouseman' Thompson tea / drinks tray, dating to the 1940s. These rectangular shaped trays are very highly sought after by collectors as they are quite rare to the market, normally they are kidney shaped. It has 2 well carved early signature mice either end of the tray. It is a beautiful dark oak colour with wonderful patina. It has also been hand adzed to the top as well as all around the rim. It is in very good condition with just some minor wear to the rim (please see pictures) and some very light staining. Other than that, it just has wear consistent with the age of the piece, which is to be expected as it is now approximately 80 years old. A lot of these early trays are heavily stained and warped due to drinks spillages. This one is in really nice condition, a good example. It measures 55.5 cm (including mice handles) x 31.2 cm.
