A rare Colin 'Beaverman' Almack dark oak ashtray dating to the 1960s/70s. It is in excellent condition and does not appear to have been used as an ashtray, just for display. It is a gorgeous rich, dark colour with wonderful patina and a particularly well carved beaver in high relief to the top. These earlier made pieces are always very desirable and sought after by collectors as they very rarely come to the market.
Colin 'Beaverman' Almack was trained by Robert 'Mouseman' Thompson and worked for him until 1960 when he left to set up his own workshop and adopting the beaver as his signature.
