A rare, earlier made Robert 'Mouseman' Thompson cheese board. These earlier cheese boards have the signature mouse carved directly onto the board. In the 1960s the mouse was moved to the handle to give it more strength, so all the later boards have the mouse on the handle, and the earlier examples have the mouse on the board.
It is in excellent condition and looks to have just been used as a display piece. Under a magnifying glass, a tiny nibble from the ear of the mouse can be seen, so small that it can't easily be spotted, but it can be felt when you run your finger over the mouse. To be picky, there's also one tiny indentation on the board, again not really noticeable, except on very close inspection. It is a really good colour and it has been well carved. Perfect for serving your after dinner cheeses. The Mouseman cheese boards with the mouse carved onto the board are one of the most requested items of all the Mouseman pieces, they're always sought after by collectors as they are rare and display very well.
