A really lovely Wilf 'Squirrelman' Hutchinson dished top stool. This is quite an early stool dating to the 1960s, with Wilf's carved squirrel signature to one leg, the squirrel is eating a nut. It is in very good condition with just a bit of age-related wear consistent with the age of the piece, which is now approximately 60 years old. It is a wonderful dark oak colour with superb patina. It has also been beautifully adzed to the top. It is structurally sound and still very useable today. They are quite often used as side tables or little lamp tables. These early Squirrelman pieces are rarer to find, so are always highly sought after, a very collectable piece.
Wilf Hutchinson was an apprentice to Robert 'Mouseman' Thompson, he adopted the squirrel as his signature. He left Mouseman and set up his workshop in 1957.
